ABSTRACT
Instinct is defined as a natural aptitude, impulse, or capacity. An instinctive reaction is a natural tendency to act rapidly and with precision without any forethought or conscious planning. Instincts can be inborn reactions, and they can also be trained or learned reactions. We are all born with the instinct to protect ourselves first. Police officers learn to instinctively protect others first even if it means harm to themselves.
