ABSTRACT

Over the past 30 years, the authors have used case studies to discuss risk and pollution prevention (P2) issues in the environmental engineering and scientic professions. Having done this separately in course offerings and jointly with others in environmental and chemical engineering seminars, the authors believe that the case method is one of the best ways to engage students and professionals in the discussion of various issues facing the engineering and scientic communities. The authors also feel that individuals are more committed to the learning process if they prepare cases themselves.
