ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on common data infrastructure both legacy and software-defined deployment topics. Clouds have accounts with an owner, optional billing, and related information. Different clouds have various focuses, data services, feature functionalities, and service offerings. Different cloud services have various management tools and interfaces including graphical user interface, Wizards, and command-line interface, along with application program interface. Some of these tools also support on-site virtual, containers, and other software-defined data infrastructures along with legacy. Tools vary from simply monitoring, reporting, insight, and awareness to provisioning, workflow, and resource orchestration. Various management tools facilitate the creation and container build management, versioning, and other common tasks including scheduling. Virtual desktop infrastructure also known as virtual workplaces complements virtual and physical servers and provides similar value propositions as Virtual machines. Management tools include metrics and measurements for accounting, tracking, capacity planning, service management, and chargeback.
