Assessing the impact of pollution in the environment basically supposes two things: rst that we are aware of the risk of pollution and second that we have sufcient knowledge about pollutant dispersion. This poses two questions: The rst one is about how to build a representation of the risk of pollution that determines the triggering of survey campaigns; the second one deals with our understanding of the pollution processes that determines where and how to act.
