ABSTRACT

This chapter examines ways in which the results of data analysis are presented to management in a comprehensive manner. In many cases of audit data analysis, the analysis may be excellent, but the communication to the decision makers is frequently lacking. Data visualization and presentation tools and techniques allow the extraction of data from various formats and turning it into charts, tables, and pivot tables that allow audit presentations to have considerably higher impacts on decision makers. Data visualization tools vary from IBM Cognos Insight, through Microsoft Power View to SAS Visual Intelligence and a plethora of other products. Data visualization involves the presentation in a graphical format of abstract information in order to discover and understand the information that resides in complex data. Data outliers can be easily overlooked if hidden in a large volume of numeric data presented in tabular form.
