ABSTRACT
Chapter 3 provides the reader with an insight to intelligent data selection for the fusion process followed by considerations for preprocessing the images. Prior to the fusion process, the images need to be corrected for platform-, sensor-, and environment-induced distortions. These corrections are image specific and therefore relevant for high-quality fusion. The last part of this chapter describes optional image enhancement procedures that can help to highlight features of interest in the fused image.
