ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the fourth step in the systematic improvement planning (SIP) pattern: develop alternative improvement ideas. The aim of this step is to differentiate the perspectives of the employees in production processes and to ensure achievement of the best results with the techniques used thereon by providing information related to the issues of improvement techniques whose deficiency has been observed within the business. The purpose of this step is to provide assistance for procedural, physical, and operational improvements and therefore for financial targets of the business to be met. In this step, to eliminate the major causes of each problem, the candidate solutions are determined by the various idea development approaches. The feasible solutions should be used to utilize the leverages designated for a permanent solution to the problem and to fulfill the objective of the business. In this step, operational improvement techniques intended for leverages and thus solutions are described.
