ABSTRACT

The maturity of an organization's system of management is determined through the use of self-assessment. The combination of self-assessment and maturity is used to help organizations prioritize, plan, and implement improvements and innovations. The results of self-assessment should be communicated within the engagement with both the internal and external stakeholders. Internal auditing will help the organization continually improve as a result of having its sustainability program embedded within its operating system. Maturity information is easier to benchmark because it does not provide specific process information that could be considered proprietary in nature. Once the uncertainty is addressed, it would be possible to conduct audits on the risk management process that is focused on determining how effective the organization has been in meeting its strategic objectives. Self-assessment is a process that leaders use in organizations that is aimed at increasing the effectiveness of processes and the efficiency of processes, and creating an efficacious strategy.
