ABSTRACT

Improvement is essential for an organization to maintain its operational performance and react to changes in the organization's internal and external operating environments. An organization needs to identify the need for innovation and establish an effective innovation process. Organizational learning includes both continual improvement of existing operations and significant change or innovation often leading to new objectives, products, and services. Organizations that are embedding sustainability should be able to balance and increase the satisfaction of the full range of stakeholders. These organizations need to continuously develop their capabilities to improve, innovate, and embed these activities into their products, processes, operational structures, way of operating in their context, and system of management. The foundation for effective and efficient improvement and innovation processes is learning. Learning that integrates the capabilities of the organization and its members can be achieved by combining knowledge, thinking patterns, and behavior patterns of people with the values of the organization.
