ABSTRACT

Ideally, the validation of a CFD simulation of a spray dryer will require comparison between the simulation and the measured (1) velocity flow field, (2) temperature profile of the air, and (3) humidity profile of the air within the chamber. In addition, comparison should also be made at the outlet from the dryer by measuring the (1) product yield, (2) product moisture content and size distribution, and (3) outlet air humidity and temperature. Lastly, the deposition fluxes predicted by the simulation should also be verified experimentally.
