ABSTRACT

In the time between the preparation of the first and second drafts of this chaptera period of 2 weeks-the following developments occurred in the business world: UPS, a major logistics company, created the position of chief sustainability officer (CSO); McDonalds, the fast food giant, announced sustainable procurement policies for all of its food and packaging products; Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer, announced water-use reduction targets for all of its facilities; and the largest American retailers and fashion designers announced the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, an effort to index the sustainability of consumer products.
