ABSTRACT

Biometrics can help us locate, identify, target, and verify the identities of people we want to kill, capture or question. Biometrics can also reveal (or disprove) the identities of individuals who are trying to gain access to our personnel, facilities, supplies, and training in order to do us harm or for criminal mischief. But there are numerous other operational processes and activities, such as detainee control and management, legal actions, humanitarian operations, friendly personnel tracking and recovery, and medical support, to name just a few, that can be aided by the use of biometrics. All of these activities require the kind of accurate and timely identification, or identity verification, that biometrics can provide.
