ABSTRACT

As announced at the outset, our treatment of the material in the book has been introductory. We principally introduce:

Constrained optimization models, focusing on combinatorial (or integer programming) models, that are or are very like models used extensively in practice and for business analytics.

Exact solvers for these models (discussed lightly).

Heuristic solvers, including both local search and population based metaheuristics (discussed in some depth).

Post-solution analysis, including sensitivity analysis, and deliberation with models for the kinds of models we introduce.
