ABSTRACT

The first humanoid robot, Eric was made by W.H. Richards in 1928 and put on display in London. The robot vehicles were equipped with solar panels for power by day and a radioisotope heater unit for power by night. High-end robots such as the PR2 or ASIMO or even AIBO are yet to become a part of human society, partly because of the price and also since these robots are still being developed into a niche for proactive human participation. The Roomba made by the iRobot company in 2002, is a vacuum cleaning robot. Erratic was designed and developed as a clone of the Pioneer robot, by Videre in 2000. Fiction with robots often traces some of the popular storylines, one where robots accept human norms and values and try fitting into human society, but are often reminded of their shortcomings. 'Human-like' has been a buzzword in current day human robot interactions.
