ABSTRACT

Congenital cerebrospinal fluid fistula A congenital cerebrospinal fluid fistula causing bilateral clear nasal discharge, fever and abnormal behaviour with cyst formation on the forehead has been reported in a young cat1. With contrast radiography a fistula from the olfactory bulb leading to cerebrospinal rhinorrhoea was diagnosed. Surgical closure of the nasal bone defect resulted in resolution of the fistula and temporary abatement of neurological signs. However, seizures of unknown aetiology but responsive to phenobarbital and antibiotics occurred 26 months after surgical closure of the fistula.
