ABSTRACT
Vibration, or the oscillatory movement of an object about a fixed point, is a characteristic of many occupational settings. Tall buildings vibrate in response to wind, and vibration is also a notable environmental characteristic of moving workplaces such as trucks, trains, cars, buses, and boats. In some contexts, the platforms on which the workers stand vibrate. Hand-held power tools are also a source of occupational exposure to vibration.
