ABSTRACT

At the time of this writing, FEMA regulations encourage but do not require local governments to address climate change as part of their hazard mitigation plans. However, we incorporate climate change into the discussion of risk assessment throughout this chapter, with the disclaimer that there is still much to be learned about how climate will aect our risk in the future. What we do know is that, while climate change in and of itself may not be considered a hazard, it will nevertheless continue to change the characteristics of the hazards that currently aect a community.
