ABSTRACT
Animportantaspectof singular optics is the observation that opticalsingularities generally have shared common features, independent of the manner in which they were created. With this in mind, we can easily observe most of these features by looking at a simple example, or arguably the simplest example, of an optical phase singularity: a highly directional beam carrying a single optical vortex.
