ABSTRACT
This chapter reviews topics in specific areas of joint modeling of longitudinal and time-to-event data, including model assumption assessment (i.e., sensitivity analysis and model diagnostics), variable selection, multistate models, cure rate survival data, and sample size estimation for joint models. Some of these areas, such as variable selection and sample size estimation, have not been fully explored and additional research is necessary to investigate their applications in different studies.
