ABSTRACT

The question is then what resources to remove? One the one hand, some resources can easily be removed without any noticeable disadvantage or cost. If we again consider the scuba diver, in order to prevent himself from freezing, he might put on a wet suit to “remove” the water from his skin. Obviously, this does not cause any major disadvantage or cost. On the other hand, in some situations the benefit of removing a resource might be very small compared to the disadvantages involved. For example, the same scuba diver could drain the lake in order to prevent himself from freezing. Although this is possible in some cases, removing such a resource would normally be ridiculous. Between these opposites however, there is a range of resources that may require considerable more appraisal, however on this issue, the AFD scope is rather limited.TheALARP principle does offer such an appraisal.
