ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Dementia will prevent patients from easily using products in their daily life. Strengthening the intuitive interactivity of the product design interface will help elderly demented patients to live independently. This study aimed to explore the needs of elderly-demented users on the intuitive interaction operation affordance features of life product operating interfaces. Taking elderly-demented users as the main research target, this study collected different types of television remote controls as research vehicles and analyzed the direct response, complete mission time, video observations, and other data of subjects on simulation operating interfaces in order to understand the intuitive interactivity of product interfaces. The study results showed that the up and down volume buttons on a television remote control should be set independently; the model should be simple, free of text at the pressing area, and presented in the form of indicating symbols, so that elderly-demented users would be more able to perceive the intuitive operation affordance.
