ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Recently, acoustic characteristics of the indoor space have become more important due to society’s economic development needs. For sustainable and easy use features, container houses are gradually widely used in quite a lot of space applications, such as temporary premises, office and exhibition space. They still need to remain as a pleasant and quiet sound environment. In this paper, green building analysis software Ecotect Analysis is used to calculate the sound characteristics of the container house. And the decorated material of this small indoor space is redesigned for obtaining the acoustic comfort at the optimal reverberation time. First, a three-dimensional model of the container house is constructed by default tools of software. The indoor acoustic characteristics for various design conditions can be obtained by the simulation process. The results indicated that the reverberation time distribution of the original container houses is 140-315 ms. After changing the interior material, its reverberation time distribution is 160-680 ms. For less than 1 kHz frequency, the reverberation time is located within the optimal range of acoustic comfort. Following the design process, the spatial designers can assess the indoor acoustic characteristics in the concept design stage. By changing the interior materials, the acoustic comfort environment of the building is derived. Meanwhile, the quality of living can be improved and reduction in construction costs can be implemented.
