Define sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value of screening

A screening test is meant to establish whether a person has a particular condition or not. Ideally, such a test would be positive for all people who actually have the condition and negative for all those without it. In reality, some people with the condition test negative for it (‘false negatives’) and some people who do not have the condition test positive for it (‘false positives’).
