Golgi apparatus are intracellular organelles found in all eukaryotic cells. Under the electron microscope they resemble a stack of plates and comprise layers of membrane-bound cisternae. Golgi apparatus often lie close to the cell nucleus. Many small vesicles surround the Golgi apparatus. Each Golgi stack has two distinct faces: a cis surface by which molecules enter and a trans surface through which they leave.
