ABSTRACT
Alcohol misuse is a pervasive problem impinging on all sectors of health and social care. The planning context is described and mapped.
For the purposes of this chapter a three-point classification will be used:
• Category I: excessive drinking without problems or dependence • Category II: excessive drinking with problems but without dependence • Category III: excessive drinking with the occurrence of both problems and dependence.
