ABSTRACT

W orld Jew ry Since the destruction of the second Temple 2000 years ago Jewish history has been a story of constant movement. Migration, expulsion and disper sal, for social or economic reasons but more often for reason of religious persecution, have been constant features of Jewish life. Some communities stayed only briefly in their locations whereas others could trace their roots

back through many centuries and even millennia. More recent Jewish history has been no different and the last century has been marked by the disruption of communities that had been established for many generations, and their dispersal and redistribution right round the world.
