ABSTRACT

Introduction This chapter explores the contribution which knowledge management can make to the development of care pathways. It provides a methodology for assembling the knowledge base and in a case study shows how one can underpin a chest pain and myocardial infarction care pathway with the clinical evidence. It is argued that there is scope to make available this type of work at a national level so that individual healthcare organisations can gain from the efficiencies of sharing information.
