Palliative care The physical, psychological, social and spiritual care of patients whose disease is no longer curable (e.g. those with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and some degenerative neuro logical disorders). Palliative care was developed by and is still largely provided by voluntary hospices, but some hospitals have specialist palliative care teams, which aim to provide the best possible quality of life for these patients.
