ABSTRACT

Li-Fraumeni syndrome is a cancer predisposition syndrome associated with soft-tissue sarcoma, breast cancer, leukaemia, osteosarcoma, melanoma, adrenal cortex and brain. More than 50" of individuals diagnosed clinically have an identifiable disease-causing mutation in the TP53 gene. Li-Fraumeni syndrome is inherited in an autosomal dominant manner. A case of gynaecomastia should be managed similar to any other breast lump and have the full triple assessment. This chapter explores three types of transplant rejection: hyperacute rejection, acute rejection, and chronic rejection. Tacrolimus is drug contraindicated in pregnancy. The most frequent side-effects seen with tacrolimus include: abnormal kidney function, tremor and headache. Pamidronate may be used in the initial post-transplant period in patients with: known osteopenia or osteoporosis, a history of one or more previous transplants, two or more episodes of rejection or a history of previous disease management with steroids.
