ABSTRACT
So far in this book we have considered major problems which militate against a favourable environment for the maintenance of health in the third world. We have also considered a number of individual cases - both in terms of the problems and in terms of possible solutions. Now let us consider the vital issue of possible general approaches to remediation. Health promotion philosophies must underlie our endeavours if health is to be sustainable.
