DEFINITIONS This book and current literature uses the term intellectual disability to refer to those patients who meet the criteria of learning disability as defined by the ISD and DSM:
ICD-10 A condition of arrested or incomplete development of the mind which is especially characterised by impairment of skills manifested during the developmental period contributing to the overall level of intelligence: cognitive, language, motor and social abilities.
