Teacher's Self-Assessment Your preferred teaching styles may be based on past learning experiences, patient encounters, or teaching other students and residents. Each resident will have unique needs and backgrounds and the learning environment will vary signifi cantly, so you will need to use a variety of teaching methods. There are a num ber of core attributes exhibited by community faculty. Excellent clinical teachers have been defined as those who are creative in their teaching styles and are:
• supportive and respectful of students and patients • alert for opportunities to provide appropriate role modeling • enthusiastic about their clinical practice and teaching.
