ABSTRACT
The plain language movement tends to concentrate on written, paper-based communications. Although tackling jargon in speech is also important, there are fundamental differences between the processes of writing and speaking. For this reason, Chapters 6 to 9 look at plain language guidelines for writing, while Chapter 10 applies these to speech and electronic media, and to communications with audiences who have special needs.
