ABSTRACT

Plant disease diagnosis is the act or process of determining and identifying a disease problem. This act can range from a simple guess based on the observed symptoms to confirmatory testing where a healthy plant is challenged with the recovered suspect pathogen or agent. Within this continuum, there are a large number of methods and techniques that are available to the person who is diagnosing. Most people have performed some level of plant disease diagnosis. For example, a homeowner seeing a dead patch of grass in his/her lawn concludes that it appears to be similar to take-all patch that they read about in their local newspaper garden section.
