ABSTRACT
Organized retail crime/theft has been a problem for the retail industry nationwide for years. Based on the many national security-/fraud-related associations or law enforcement agencies discussing the problem, the threat terminology refers to the issues as organized retail crime or organized retail theft. Whether using the terms “crime” or “theft,” both refer to the same type of problem. For the purpose of the discussion in this text, we will refer to the issue as organized retail crime (ORC).
