ABSTRACT

Depression is a term used to describe persistent low mood, sadness, and misery. Anxiety is used to describe tension, stress, and uneasiness. We all feel fed up, miserable, uneasy, or sad at times. However, these feelings usually do not last longer than a week or two, and they do not interfere too much with our lives. Very often there is a reason for our low or anxious moods, but sometimes they just come out of the blue. We usually cope with them ourselves. We may have a chat with a friend but do not otherwise need any help. Someone is said to be signifi cantly depressed or anxious, or suffering from depression or anxiety, when his/her feelings do not go away quickly and they interfere with his/her everyday life.
