ABSTRACT

I turn off Christopher Columbus Boulevard and into the Japanese Cultural Center. Andy and I are to take an aikido class, then discuss Grandview over lunch. I park and pull my aikido bag out of the back seat—gi, * zoris, and navy blue hakama. Aikido’s values or standards are those of bushido § and are expressed in the seven folds of the hakama. Standards are also central to Andy’s teaching and the foundation of the famous Toyota Production System (TPS; Figure 5.1).
