ABSTRACT

In the short time since writing the first draft of this chapter, the winds of change have once again blown through quality management and rendered obsolete the terminology, although not, we are pleased to say, the underlying issue. So where we originally extolled the virtues of medical then clinical audit, clinical outcomes then effectiveness, we now find that it is really all about evidence-based practice, and a little bird tells us that perhaps we should actually be writing about managed care.
