ABSTRACT

Nick Russo pulled into the hospital parking lot for the first Board of Governors meeting of the new fiscal year. It had rained all day, and the evening was cold, dark, and dreary, which mirrored Nick’s temperament exactly. This would be his third year as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the hospital. The organization had been on a downward spiral when he took the helm, and the situation had grown progressively worse during his tenure.
