ABSTRACT

The world now is steered by technology and computers-from Twitter to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, everything we do and touch and that touches us has a computer in the process. Healthcare may have been a little bit slower than other industries to adopt information technology (IT), but now the electronic health record (EHR) is an essential part of every facility that provides care to patients-from home health to the intensive care unit. Patients are no longer surprised when the provider pulls out a computer instead of a paper chart and pen.
