ABSTRACT
The selection process begins with the identification of a need and subsequent approval of a project proposal. The successful implementation and adoption of a new application or system is dependent on an organized system selection process, followed by a well-planned and executed implementation strategy. Once a need has been identified within an organization, an effective governance committee evaluates it against the organizational mission, goals, objectives, information technology (IT) strategic plan, budget, and available resources.
