ABSTRACT

Observing people carrying heavy loads can shed further light on the nature of balance. For example, watch the different ways a shopper holds his body when (i) going into a store and (ii) coming out of it. Going in, he will pretty much walk normally. But coming out-laden with heavy shopping bags-he will adjust his body lean significantly to compensate for the additional weight over his feet. Therefore, draw 2 gesture drawings on the next blank page that indicate the before and after of carrying a weight. Attempt to dramatize the differing nature of these 2 poses for maximum effect. (Take no more than 3 minutes to complete each drawing.)
