ABSTRACT
A 25-year-old woman goes to see her GP because she has been troubled for the last two months by a tendency to bruise very easily. During this time, her menstrual periods have also been much heavier than usual.There has not been any haemoptysis, haematemesis, melaena or the passage of fresh blood per rectum. The patient has no other symptoms and has previously been fit and well. She is not taking any medication. Examination is unremarkable.
