ABSTRACT
A 60-year-old man is admitted from the haematology clinic with gum bleeding. He has noticed a sudden onset of spontaneous bruising that started about a week previously. On examination, he has extensive bruising covering most of his leg (see the image below). The calf is tender and swollen.
