ABSTRACT
A 28-year-old male presents with a 1-week history of gradually increasing pain and swelling of his left leg as shown in the below image. Over the previous 24 hours he has coughed up blood-stained sputum on 2 occasions. His father died suddenly of unknown causes at the age of 46 and his 27-year-old sister suffered a deep vein thrombosis during pregnancy.
