ABSTRACT
A 55-year-old woman is referred to the haematology clinic for advice regarding the use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). She developed a pulmonary embolism aged 35 after internal fixation of a fracture of femur and was anti-coagulated for 6 months. She made a full recovery and has no residual respiratory symptoms.
