ABSTRACT

A 30-year-old woman is referred from the antenatal clinic as she is 8 weeks into her first pregnancy. She has a history of unprovoked proximal deep vein thrombosis (DVT) occurring 6 years previously. She was anti-coagulated for 6 months and subsequently diagnosed with antithrombin deficiency. Her only treatment since then has been prophylactic doses of low-molecular weight heparin prior to flying.
