ABSTRACT

Statutory no-fault compensation for accidents at work and diseases caused by work exists in some form in Europe and North America, as well as Australasia and South Africa. What is compensated and how this is done differs between the different countries and in the USA. among its different states. However, the basic principle of no-fault compensation (i.e. access to compensation without the need to demonstrate negligence) is shared for accidents at work and, to a lesser extent, for diseases caused by work.
