ABSTRACT

Normally, takt-time calculations must be done before the kaizen event-it does take time to properly derive the answers. Meeting time should be as brief and as pointed as possible during kaizen week. If it makes sense to do so, a brief review of the highlights of particular Lean points to consider can be covered. This should only be a brief overview-the more in-depth training should have taken place as a preparation event for the kaizen. A hearty round of applause at the end of the final presentation should be the recognition for a team accomplishment and the beginning of the new company. At the end of the kaizen, the resulting savings can also be dollarized. For the purposes of the kaizen event, there is no need to dollarize the beginning positions of the kaizen event and then update as the team moves through the event week.
