ABSTRACT

There are three ways to create a sheet metal part: converting a solid part to a sheet metal part, creating the part as a sheet metal part using sheet metal-specific features, and building a part, shell it, and then converting it to sheet metal. This chapter discusses several tutorials for sheet metal design based on the base flange approach. The tutorials include General Sheet Metal; P1; P2; Hanger Support; Jogged Sheet Metal; Lofted Sheet Metal; P9; General Sheet Metal; Hanger; and CSWP-SMTL. It is expected that students will become competent in sheet metal part design after covering all the tutorials. The chapter summarizes the base flange approach which has some advantages. It also discusses the standard of the sheet metal part design problems which is at par with the Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) and Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) examinations.
